Mogadishu (almuniir) - A meeting to support the achievements of the Transitional federal government of Somalia and the advancement of the Somali military backed by the AMISOM peacekeeping forces was held in Mogadishu in Banadir.
The meeting was attended by officials from the government, the youth community and administration officials. The mayor of Mogadishu Mohamud Ahmed Tarsan who spoke in the occasion said victory has been attained in the operations of the military and the AMISOM.
The mayor said there are changes in Mogadishu which is discernible and hopes of peace are seen in the faces of the people.
Ilyas Bare Shiil, a former member of the Kenyan parliament, who was in attendance said the Somalis need to work towards peace to move Somalia out of its long-term lawlessness of 20 years.
The meeting was also attended by the foreign minister of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Omar who praised the Somali women for their active role in the development and attainment of peace adding that the operations of the military were successful because of the public support.
