Mogadishu (almuniir) - New camps for the internally displaced persons from Bay and Bakol have been set up in Baidoa, the regional capital. The people mostly took refuge in Baidoa fleeing from the devastating drought that hit the area.
The three camps became habitat for thousands of people who were plagued by drought in the Bakol and Bay regions of Somalia. The IDPs were settled in the Baidoa state house centre, Likow garage and former Hassey factory.
Sheikh Ahmed Abdisalam, the chairman of the committee for combating drought of Bay and Bakol said there number of people entering Baidoa is alarming and are increasing every day and their conditions are pathetic.
The chairman asked the Somali public and the local aid agencies to help the people who are faced with dire humanitarian situations before matters go out of hand.
