Doing things at your own peril

Dear Al-shabab,

Allow me to give you some advice which I know you won’t entertain. But I will be prudent in outlining some points. You are desperate people knocking down the gates of nowhere.  

In the popular imagination, you are people who conjure up memories of hands and body parts being cut off. Your name would mean amputation.

Islam aspires to hold high morality but I don’t understand where you borrowed the moral bankruptcy that has become rife in your circus.

But let that not worry you because my words won’t deter you from practicing it, anyway what good will it do you?

I vividly remember the platform in which you ascended and received both national and international recognition. It was when you defeated the warlords. The Somalis cheered and applauded you, giving you support. You turned Mogadishu into a safe haven of peace. But, did it last?

Surely your bad practices outweigh your good ones!

You entice young people with money and make them bomb themselves with promises of heavenly reward in the afterlife. You make them go against their parent’s wish. You turn parents against their children and children against their parents! Which religion on earth stipulates such practices? Oh! God forbid it is not Islam.

However, if my understanding of Islam is correct, the young people were never lured with money at the time of the prophet to carry out Jihad activities. Not at one time in the lifetime of the prophet did he order someone to go to Jihad while their parents were alive, let alone doing that against the parents’ will. Which prophet are you following his teachings?

Your norm has become an extreme one such that you simply kill on the basis of accusation. How many people have gone down the drain just because you suspected them? Is accusation a basis for taking the life of someone?

You are a concoction of people who are mainly triggered by settling long-held vendettas. You kill and do all manners of evils attributing it to Islam. Surely you have no knowledge of the basic Islamic tenets. Otherwise you wouldn’t have a hand in any unislamic practices.

Your prurient interest in power and wealth is one that is not accepted by Islam.

You are in a better position to understand the apparent and dramatic drop in your number of followers because people are tired of hanging around and beating drums for people hell bent on destroying them. Why do you receive scathing criticism if you stand for what you say you stand for?

You were a group, I would say, not found on ideals, Ideals that would have stood for the greater good of the people, clear interpretation of the religion Islam. But you depicted Islam as a violent religion.

You are guilty people who should not be allowed to walk free on earth. You will never be exonerated of your crimes. There will be no clemency or leniency on the part of the Somali people. Yours is unbridled criminality which won’t call for mercy.

It would go days on end to narrate your atrocities and there will still be more to tell about you.  You are doing everything at your own peril. God help you!
